Springtime is here in Brisbane and I’m already starting to feel the days heating up. It really is a beautiful time of year. I have to admit to being a little sad to see the back of the cooler weather though, as Summer is not my favourite time of year here… Summer breezes are certainly sanity savers in these parts.
Today, I’m happy to be a part of Fat Quarter Shop‘s Summer Breeze sew-along. This is such a great pattern, that comes together deceptively quickly, especially with the use of the handy Creative Grid rulers. FQS have put together a great little video and have all the details you need on their website. You can find the kit here and the pattern here.
I decided to use all the blocks from the pattern and make two baby quilts instead of one larger quilt, and chose to use some of my favourite Cotton + Steel fabrics. One quilt is made with the “Raindrop” collection by Rashida Coleman-Hale and the other with the “Playful” collection by Melody Miller. The fabric requirements are the same as stated in the pattern, and these mini versions finish at 40.5″ x 48.5″, which is a great size for a cot or toddler bed.
Both quilts are quilted with this pretty swirly, bubbly pattern (yes, that’s the technical term, lol) and backed with Puddle Jump, one of my favourite Raindrop fabrics.
I had so much fun putting these together! Please visit the amazing quilters who are also taking part in today’s sew-along:
