A Quick Update (and something Splendid!)

So the kids going back to school (and after-school!) hit me harder than expected… A whole month without blogging! I have been busy sewing away with my hand-sewing while waiting around at the studio and trying to whip my WIPs when at home. I’ll be sharing a couple of finishes later this week. Nothing like a couple of birthdays to get some things completed!

Scrappy Binding = yum!

The Aussie MQG pouch swap was fun. I ended up making two (one for my partner and one for my littlest) and I am keen to make more. They are very addictive!

Finally, I am so excited about the Splendid Sampler that I have started my blocks before finishing my Farmer’s Wife (typical quilter!) This quilt will be mine (all mine, bwahaha) so I am pulling out the big guns, i.e. my precious collection of Sweetwater reds and my equally precious Zen Chic modern background paper fabrics. The aim is to create a more modern interpretation of a red and white sampler. Two blocks in, I think I’m in love…

I’ll be back tomorrow with the cutest pair of baby quilts from a great little FREE pattern. I think this one will become my favourite quilt pattern for baby gifts.

WIP Wednesday

I made some sort of headway in the new sewing room this afternoon and celebrated with a couple of Piece Of Cake blocks.

I started this quilt at a class with the lovely Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister designs. I’m using one of my favourite backgrounds, Sketch by Timeless Treasures, and using a Moda layer cake I’ve had stashed for a while, Sew Stitchy by Aneela Hoey. This will be a bed quilt for my mini-stitcher.
