Hello if you are visiting me as part of the FQS Holiday Wishes event. Thanks so much for visiting my little blog. Please follow via Bloglovin’ or your preferred reader if you would like to see my upcoming free tutorials for simple baby quilts and my 3rd quarter projects.
Well this is a cute book! I was pleased-as-punch to be invited to take part in the latest Fat Quarter Shop‘s sew-along event, Holiday Wishes. Here in Brisbane, Australia, we are mid-Winter (well, as cold as it gets…) and for this expat Brit, there is something that feels quite lovely about making Christmas projects in the cold. It really is the perfect time for those of us in the southern hemisphere to make Christmas projects, and for those “up north” to get a head-start and save some sanity towards the end of the year.
My hubby and I have very different perspectives on my sewing projects, so I sometimes like to ask his opinion, even if I’m not always happy with his answers! It’s one way to stop getting stuck in my own head! When I received this book, there were *so many* projects I was keen to make that I got pretty excited. I decided to pass the book to him and ask which one he would like for the house. As usual, he picked something that I didn’t, but I’m so glad he did.
Hubby picked this “All Snowed In” table runner:
I opted to make it from Moda Bella Solid in Bleached White (which I affectionately call “my 98”, lol) and Michael Miller’s Fairy Frost fabrics which have that perfect frosty sparkle that I miss so much. I found a starry blue in my stash which coordinated, and instead of the bright cornerstones in the pattern, I went with the white fairy floss for a more subtle frosty feel.
If I can wrestle it from my youngest who wants to use it for fairy play, I think I’ll need to organise a “Christmas in July” dinner to celebrate! Yum! Please do check out the FQS’s Jolly Jabber for the links to all four weeks of bloggers sewing along.
Next up from this book for me will be this stunner:
Oh for more hours in each day!
