Fancy Forest Finished!

I can’t believe I haven’t written a post on this one yet! My adventure in Robert Kaufmann’s Essex Linen and V and Co for Moda’s Simply Colorful bundles is done and I’m pleased as punch with the result. As soon as I saw the Fancy Forest Quilt hung at quilt market I went straight to Elizabeth Hartman’s shop and treated myself to a copy of the pattern.

Of course, as soon as my kids saw the printout, they insisted it be made quickly and for them… Well, like most quilters, I’ve had a million projects on the go, but I committed to getting it finished this quarter they got their wish 8 months later!

I decided to make blocks for the smaller size quilt but then sashed with 4.5″ sashing so it gave the blocks and linen a bit more space to shine. This ended up around 48 x 60 so it’s perfect for the kids to (fight over) snuggling under it on the sofa.

My friend Jane and I quilted it together in a cute vine/leaves quilting pattern. Hoping that some of her quilting cleverness rubs off on me – that machine is scary! 😆

I finished the quilt with stripy binding, because everyone loves stripy binding, especially me. 😀

Thanks for stopping by. 😀
